What if high school students thinking about college or career options could hear the stories of how people doing interesting work in Milwaukee recognized the opportunity and developed the skills they now rely on?
We suspect students might understand the breadth of possibilities open to them, that career paths often take surprising turns, and that opportunities to find engaging work in Milwaukee are all around them.
Do you have a story to tell?
We’re working with high school teachers and faculty in UWM’s English department to develop and pilot a process to collect and present these stories. UWM students will conduct one hour interviews with our second pool of candidates during the week of February 24th. Students at New Berlin’s Eisenhower High School will conduct interviews between February 24th and March 6th We’ll share more about the project at our March Collab Lab
Our goal is to lay the groundwork for a broader effort implemented within area high schools to build a community-wide resource for career exploration. Last semester, UWM students focused careers that intersect with healthcare. This semester our focus is on information technology and we are on the hunt for a set of interview candidates with diverse backgrounds.
If you are:
- engaged by your work,
- work in a role that intersects with information technology ,
- are willing to spend an hour with UWM or high school students eager to capture your story,
you’d be a great candidate to interview. If you’d like to participate, please fill out this short interest form by Saturday February 15th, 2020.
